Death Certificate states "Cause of death: 410 shotgun - gunshot wound in mouth. Self-inflicted with suicidal intent.
Clarence owned a Barber shop in either Red Bluff or Corning. He took Aunt Doris to visit her family, which he never did before and then on their return, they stopped at the barber shop which was closed. They went inside and Clarence shot Doris with the shotgun. She managed to put her arm up to shield herself from the shot and took the bullet in her right arm. At that time, she was knocked to the ground and pretended to be dead. Clarence, thinking she was dead, then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide. As a result of the gunshot wound, Aunt Doris was unable to continue working as a nurse in hospitals, so she found employment as a school nurse. | PETERS, Clarence John (I306)
